Introduction to Collecting

What is collecting? How does it work?
Collecting is the tool for gathering data from a system's environment for use inside of that system. The data collected could be in the form of any of the five types of multimedia and could be collected from any source. An example of this is a microphone collecting audio data from sound waves or a keyboard collecting text data from keystrokes. Methods or devices that collect data can also be in many forms ranging from hardware and software to non-computer methods such as surveys. For these reasons, collecting could be argued as being the most important tool in the seven information processes, as every other tool for information processing relies on data first being collected and inputted into the system by a tool for collecting. |
